Jan. 22: WSURP retirement presentations offered

tiaa-cref-logo-80PULLMAN, Wash. – Retirement presentations for participants in the Washington State University Retirement Plan (WSURP) will be offered by Human Resource Services and TIAA-CREF on Wednesday, Jan. 22, in Lighty 405.

Sessions will be available to non-Pullman sites via AMS videoconferencing. To request videoconferencing, please visit “Current Benefit Events” on the HRS website at http://hrs.wsu.edu/Benefits. Registration for Pullman participants is not required, but encouraged, and can also be addressed through this website.

Pre-retirement sessions, targeted for those within 2-5 years of retirement, 8:30-10:30 a.m. or 2-4 p.m.

During the first hour, HRS personnel will review: retiree medical/dental insurance options; the VEBA medical expense benefit; life insurance options; tax deferring payouts and the supplemental retirement plan.

Representatives from TIAA-CREF will then discuss how they can provide objective advice about asset allocation based on individual needs, as well as how to obtain a personalized action plan consisting of retirement income options, funding the financial strategy that fits personal needs and keeping retirement investing on track.

Mid-career benefit review, intended for employees who have been with WSU for a while and would like a review of their benefits and reminders of when they may want to make adjustments, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

During the first hour, HRS personnel will address: life changing events; life insurance; long term disability; flex-plan services; SelectPlus caregiver programs; CDHP health plans; health savings accounts and retirement plan options, including voluntary retirement plans.

Representatives from TIAA-CREF will discuss: setting financial goals; realizing tax advantages; potentially reducing risk with diversification; recognizing the pitfalls of market timing and understanding the impact of expenses
