PULLMAN, Wash. – Food and clothing drives, fasting, community service projects, a cardboard “city” and a public forum will highlight Washington State University’s observance of National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week Nov. 17-23.
* Service projects throughout the week and an information table on the first floor of the CUB will be hosted by the WSU Center for Civic Engagement (CCE).
* An all campus food, supplies and clothing drive will continue through the week with drop-off boxes on the CUB first floor and the Student Recreation Center lobby. Donations will go to the Community Action Center in Pullman.
* A community of cardboard “homes” will be set up outside Todd Hall 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, by GIVE, a student-run, community service organization.
* A panel conversation, “One in Six: Students Living in Poverty,” will be noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, in the CUB Butch’s Den. Global Campus online students are invited to attend this event at mms://windowsmedia.wsu.edu/event (live stream) and http://chatanywhere.wsu.edu (chat feature). The live stream and chat will be available starting at 11:50 a.m.
