Nov. 1: Architecture site visit builds into design exhibit, book

Endicott-200PULLMAN, Wash. – An exhibit of photos and dioramas of the Palouse farm town of Endicott, Wash., will run Nov. 1-16 at Turnspace Studio, 129 W. Third St., Moscow, Idaho. An opening reception will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1.

The work is by 16 architecture and interior design graduate students from Washington State University who spent three days in Endicott in fall 2012 – much longer than a typical architecture site visit.

The students documented this intensive, firsthand personal experience by sketching, photographing and employing other self-directed exploratory methods. After returning from Endicott, students attempted to render their individual observations and experiences in wooden diorama boxes.

The exhibition will display several dioramas as well as pictorial stories and visual commentaries created with photos.

More of the work has been collected into a publication, “Endicott,” available for purchase at http://www.blurb.com/b/4698386-endicott.
