Nov. 1: WSU concerts a high point of schools orchestra festival

orchestra-200PULLMAN, Wash. – A festival of regional high school and middle school orchestras will be highlighted by free, public performances by a Washington State University faculty trio and the WSU Symphony Orchestra.

Meredith Arksey, violin, Ruth Boden, cello, and Jeff Savage, piano, will perform the allegretto movement from “Piano Trio No. 2” in E minor by Shostakovich at 12:20 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, in WSU’s Bryan Hall. The first movement of “Symphony No. 5” by Beethoven and the final sections of “Billy the Kid” by Aaron Copland will then be presented by the orchestra.

WSU is hosting the day-long festival, which will include workshops and performances in Kimbrough Hall as well as clinics with Arksey, Boden and orchestra director Matthew Aubin.
