Open Access Week: Sign up for alternative impact measures workshops

 

Join the WSU Libraries to explore this year’s International Open Access Week theme: “Redefining Impact.” An exciting lineup of speakers and events will explore alternative ways of tracking the impact of scholarly work, http://libguides.wsulibs.wsu.edu/openaccess.

Keynote: Redefining Impact: Tuesday, Oct. 22, CUE 518, 3-4:30 p.m. Mike Buschman will talk about the latest developments in open access and show how alternative metrics are being used by research institutions, scholarly publishers and individual researchers. Light reception to follow.

Workshop: Alternative Impact Measures: Wednesday, Oct. 23, Terrell Library 20E, 10-11:30 a.m. To register, email reznowski@wsu.edu. Buschman will lead a hands-on for faculty and graduate students. Refreshments will be served.

Webinar: Telling the Full Story of Research Impact with Altmetrics: Wednesday, Nov. 6, Terrell Library 20E, 2-3 p.m. To register, email reznowski@wsu.edu. Jason Priem of Impact Story will help faculty and graduate students gain a fuller picture of their research impact: “After reviewing the growing research around altmetrics, we’ll discuss how these data sources can be of practical use for researchers and publishers focusing on ImpactStory, an open-source Web tool that gathers and contextualizes altmetrics.” Refreshments will be served.
