PHILADELPHIA – Former Washington State University linebacker Travis Long signed a free-agent contract with the Philadelphia Eagles, the Eagles announced Monday afternoon.
Long, who graduated in 2013, was a four-time all-conference selection while starting all 47 games he appeared in for the Cougars.
The Spokane, Wash. native tallied 201 career tackles, 141 solo including 20.5 sacks, sixth-most in school-history. Long also made 42 tackles-for-loss, fourth-most in school-history, forced four fumbles, broke up 10 passes and intercepted one pass. He led the Cougars in tackles-for-loss all four years and posted team-highs in sacks in each of the last three seasons.
Long, 6-foot-4, 250-pounds, earned an All-Pac-12 honorable mention honors last year after registering 61 tackles, 12 for loss and 8.5 sacks in 11 games before suffering a season-ending ACL injury. Following the season, Long was named the Cougars’ defensive MVP and presented the Laurie Niemi Award, which is given to the senior who best shows courage and attitude.
