The keynote presentation will be made by Richard York, professor of environmental sociology at the University of Oregon, and is titled “Addressing Environmental Problems by Looking Beyond Green Technology.”
York’s research focuses on climate change, human ecology and the sociology of science. He advocates a multifaceted approach to environmental solutions. He studies national trends connecting energy consumption and energy intensity – the amount of energy required to produce a dollar of product.
In the afternoon, students, colleagues, family members and friends will also join together to pay tribute to and celebrate the contributions of Eugene A. Rosa, a WSU Regents Professor of sociology, who passed away earlier this spring.
Interdisciplinary forum
The EarthS conference provides an interdisciplinary forum for presenting ideas and engaging in conversations on related topics. Participation from researchers, graduate students and community members is welcome.
