WSU Ad Club shoe drive continues through April 12

PULLMAN, Wash. – The Washington State University Advertising Club will kick off a three-week shoe drive to help support low income families beginning Monday, March 25.

The club’s goal is to collect more than 2,000 pair of new or slightly worn shoes from WSU students, faculty and staff. Donated shoes can be left at the CADD atrium or in labeled boxes placed at various locations around campus through April 12. The shoes will be donated to the Mission Community Outreach Center in Spokane, Wash.

“We want as many people to get involved with the drive as possible so that we can really make a difference,” said Krista Voyvodic, club president. “To bring greater awareness to the needs of the less fortunate and create interest in the shoe drive, the club is hoping to have spotlight members of the WSU community get involved, including coaches, athletes and administrators.”

WSU Ad Club helps student members improve their skills through client based projects, expand their knowledge of advertising through seminars and activities, extend their professional contacts through field trips and professional visits and enhance their professional social skills through group events.

“As an organization that values the local community, I think it is important that the Ad Club gives something back, and I can think of few better ways than to help the less fortunate,” said Eric W Hoffman, club advisor and a clinical assistant professor with the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication.

Mission Community Outreach Center is an independent nonprofit organization supported by local churches, civic groups and individual donors. The clothing bank has provided support to low income families and individuals in Spokane since 1996.
