Nominations for interim provost welcome by March 31

An Open Letter to the WSU Community from President Elson S. Floyd

Dear Colleagues,

Provost Warwick Bayly announced last week that he will step down as provost effective May 31 to pursue new developments in his area of research. He has served with distinction for the past five years. I will miss his energy and insight, and yet, I absolutely respect his decision.

My intention is to conduct a national search for a permanent replacement for Provost Bayly beginning this fall. In the meantime, there is critical work to be done, which makes the appointment of an interim provost very important.

I will be accepting nominations for interim provost starting immediately; nominations will close March 31. Please email your suggestions and a brief explanation to me at floyde@wsu.edu.

I will be announcing the interim provost in early to mid-April. The goal is to allow Provost Bayly and the interim provost some overlap time to make the transition as seamless as possible.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter and for all that you do for Washington State University.

Best regards,
Elson S. Floyd
President
