Registration open for country living expo/cattlemen’s school

STANWOOD, Wash. – Registration is open for the Country Living Expo and Cattlemen’s Winter School that will be 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Stanwood High School.
 
The event offers a fun day for everyone, with 165 classes, 60 vendors and a delicious prime rib or vegetarian lunch. Hosted by Stanwood FFA, it is presented by Washington State University Extension, the WSU Livestock Master Foundation and the state Cattlemen’s Association.
 
The livestock enthusiast can select a full track of classes on beef, sheep, swine, goats or horses. Classes will cover gardening, beekeeping, food preparation and preservation, the business aspects of small-scale farming, and the pleasures of country living.
 
Organizers have added 45 new classes, including landscape design, lefse making, fly fishing, building a cob oven, growing hardy fuchsia flowers, sous vide cooking, giant vegetable growing, killing slugs and making pie. By popular demand, extra cheese and soap making classes have been added.
