WSU thanks donors on National Philanthropy Day

This video features scenes from the Pullman, Spokane, Tri-Cities and Vancouver campuses and is being distributed electronically to donors. Their gifts, grants and pledges are benefitting WSU’s students, faculty, programs, teaching, research and scholarship.

PULLMAN, Wash. – Nearly three-quarters of the way toward its $1 billion goal, The Campaign for Washington State University: Because the World Needs Big Ideas is outpacing projections. To say thank you, WSU students prepared a short video in honor of National Philanthropy Day, which is Thursday, Nov. 15, to show donors the impact of their support.

More than 166,000 donors have committed more than $744.1 million – or 74 percent – of the $1 billion campaign goal. The campaign is the largest single fundraising effort in WSU history.

“On behalf of my fellow WSU students, we are grateful for the support of every donor. They are supporting academic, research and outreach efforts and are providing the scholarships and fellowships so many of us depend on,” said Isaiah Adona, a senior business administration major from Tacoma, Wash. “National Philanthropy Day provides us a great opportunity to show donors how they are helping to change our lives.”
Donors have contributed more than $90.8 million in support of current use and endowed scholarships. The campaign, which began July 1, 2006, was publicly launched in a celebration on Dec. 2, 2010 and will continue through 2015.
