1098-T tax form for student expenses has error

PULLMAN, Wash. – The 2011 1098-T tax forms, used by colleges and universities to report student educational expenses to the IRS, as required by the Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997, have been mailed to eligible WSU students.

However, the Employer’s Identification Number (EIN) is incorrect on them. The form shows the EIN as 91-60011108. It should be 91-6001108.

WSU’s zip code should also read 99164-1039.

These are informational forms only and are not required to be submitted with the tax return. The figures in Boxes 1 through 10 on the form are correct.
