Staff recognized with WSU Spokane excellence awards

SPOKANE, Wash. – Becki Meehan, communications and events manager for the Office of Communications, and Jane Rudd, program coordinator for Student Affairs, were selected to receive WSU Spokane’s 2011 Employee Excellence Awards. They were recognized for outstanding contributions to the WSU Spokane campus and greater Spokane community.

Meehan was presented with the Administrative Professional Staff Excellence Award. She has been a WSU employee for more than eight years and has served WSU Spokane for the past six years.

Known as the “go-to” events person on campus, she has worked on dozens of large and small events, giving personalized care to each one. Her nominators praised her for her organizational skills and ability to plan for every contingency.

“It doesn’t matter if she is given six months or two days to plan an event, she is always on top of things and never lets last-minute details interfere with her pleasant demeanor,” said one of her nominators.

“This was a lovely surprise!” said Meehan. “I work with wonderful people on the Riverpoint Campus and am very honored to be recognized. A special thanks to everyone involved in my nomination and selection.”

Rudd, a WSU employee for 28 years, was awarded the Civil Service Staff Excellence Award.

A valued member of the Student Affairs team, Rudd handles facilities scheduling for the campus and takes pride in making sure classes, meetings and events are held in the right place and all details have been addressed. She was noted by her nominators for going the extra mile to serve the entire campus community, including Eastern Washington University students, faculty and staff.

“As the campus has grown in the past several years, so have the scheduling requests,” said one of her nominators. “Rudd graciously manages her growing workload, communicates changes with all concerned and stays up on the ever-changing technology and processes.”

“I am speechless; thank you for putting up with me!” said Rudd in response to receiving the award. “I am grateful to be a part of such a fantastic team at WSU Spokane.”

Spokane Teachers Credit Union sponsored the awards, which were presented at the WSU Spokane Spring Kickoff meeting earlier this month.
