WSU soccer enters round two of NCAA Championship

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University women’s soccer team will take on Atlantic Coast Conference member Virginia in the NCAA Championship second round, 4 p.m. today, Friday, Nov. 18.

 
In their last contest, Sept. 9, Virginia (15-4-2, 7-2-1 ACC) and WSU tied 0-0.
 
WSU slips past Kentucky in overtime
The Cougars (12-6-4, 6-3-2 Pac-12) moved past host Kentucky in the first round of the NCAA Championship playoffs, last week. WSU trailed 1-0 at intermission, then tied the match in the 57th minute on Ali Fenter’s first goal of the season. After neither team scored in overtime, Cougars converted four of five penalty kicks to advance.
 
Third time in four years
For the third time in the last-four years, Washington State is appearing in the NCAA Championship. Cougar senior class of defender Ali Fenter, midfielder Jacquelyn Roth and forward Tiara Pittman are the first players in WSU history to make three NCAA postseason appearances.
