Mushroom cultivation workshop

MOUNT VERNON, Wash. – Washington State University Extension specialist Jim Freed and the experts from Fungi Perfecti will host a hands-on shiitake mushroom cultivation workshop 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at the WSU Northwestern Washington Research and Extension Center.
Topics of disscusion will include the different species that grow well in our climate and forests along with a discussion of growing media, including log, stump and sawdust culture. There will also be a hands-on demonstration of log-inoculation techniques.
 
Registration is $60 per person or $85 for two people registering at the same time. The cost of the workshop includes a set of plugs to inoculate your own mushroom log. Class size is limited for this event so early registration is urged.
