WSU teaches basics of beekeeping

EVERETT, Wash. – The Master Beekeeping Program, sponsored by Washington State University Extension and Beez Neez Apiary Supply, is holding three sessions of its popular apprentice-level course. The first session will be 6:30-9:30 Monday evenings from Nov. 7 through Dec. 5 in McCollum Park at WSU Snohomish County Extension’s Cougar Auditorium.
 
The second and third session will begin Monday, Jan. 9 and Monday, Feb. 27. The cost to register is $70 and space is limited. 
 
The apprentice-level course is designed to build basic skills and explore the unique challenges and benefits of beekeeping in the Pacific Northwest. Each session is taught by local beekeeping professionals and topics of discussion will include bee biology, equipment, seasonal management requirements and more. Participants who pass the Washington State Apprentice Beekeeper level exam will receive a certificate toward the Journey and Master Beekeeper levels of training.
