Service projects help employees make a difference

PULLMAN, Wash. – Community service opportunities are available to Washington State University employees and students on Saturday, Oct. 22, which is Make a Difference Day nationwide.
 
The WSU Center for Civic Engagement is hosting five project options. The website indicates some already are full, but they remain open to volunteers willing to transport themselves. Sign up on the website.
 
Special CFD projects
 
In addition, two projects in particular are open to faculty and staff who wish to participate in support of the state Combined Fund Drive (CFD). The morning project will be 9 a.m.-noon at the Palouse-Clearwater Environmental Institute (charity code 0456508). The afternoon project will be Habitat for Humanity (charity code 1478426) construction 12:30-4 p.m.

The CFD is the philanthropic program for employees in the state of Washington who wish to support local, national or international organizations. More information is available online at http://cfd.wsu.edu.
 
Participants will need to provide their own transportation and should dress in work clothes appropriate for the weather. Equipment will be provided, but participants should bring their own work gloves.
