Wind ensemble, symphonic band present classics, more

PULLMAN, Wash. – The Washington State University Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band will present a free public concert at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, in Bryan Hall Theatre. 

 
The band, under the direction of WSU instructor and new conductor Christopher Dickey, will perform classics for concert band, including “Overture for Winds” by Charles Carter, “Satiric Dances” by Norman Dello Joio and “National Emblem March” by E. E. Bagley.
 
The wind ensemble, under the direction of assistant professor Christopher Neal, will present a blend of new and old, including “Ride” (2002) by Samuel Hazo), “Excerpts from Sechs Tanze” (2006) by German composer Rolf Rudin and “New Dance” (1935) by Wallingford Riegger. Also from the standard repertoire of band classics, the ensemble will perform “Introduction and Rondo” from the “Sinfonietta” (1961) by Ingolf  Dahl.
