HBO’s David Simon here tonight for Wilson Symposium

Journalist, author, and TV producer David Simon will address systemic urban inequality and its consequences during the 2011 William Julius Wilson Symposium at 7 p.m. tonight in the CUB Auditorium. Simon has been involved with two hard-hitting HBO series, “The Wire” and “Treme,” which address those themes.

To honor his efforts to raise awareness of social issues, the University will present Simon with the second William Julius Wilson Award for the Advancement of Social Justice. The award is named for William Julius Wilson, a WSU alumnus, current Harvard professor, and one of the nation’s most prominent sociologists. Dr. Wilson will attend tonight’s symposium.
