Common Reading Author Richard A. Muller at WSU Sept. 27

Richard A. Muller, author of “Physics for Future Presidents: The Science Behind the Headlines,” the 2011-12 Common Reading Program’s featured book, will deliver the program’s annual invited lecture at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 27, in Beasley Coliseum.

The public is invited. A book signing will follow on the Beasley Concourse.

Muller is also faculty senior scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory associated with the Institute for Nuclear and Particle Astrophysics, and is a frequent guest on broadcast media, writes for popular magazines, and has authored several books.

This is the fifth Common Reading Invited Lecture in as many years. The Common Reading is a program of the University College at WSU.

In addition to the annual presentation, a popular weekly lecture series—Common Reading Tuesdays—features faculty and other experts on topics related to the year’s text.

Through the series in fall and spring semesters this year, WSU students will experience “science” from the unique perspectives of economists, political scientists, nanotechnologists, librarians, engineers, philosophers, historians, sociologists, and writers.
