David Simon of The Wire to speak on Sept. 22

The university community is invited to hear David Simon, co-creator of the HBO television series “The Wire,” speak at the William Julius Wilson Symposium at 7 p.m. on Sept. 22 in the CUB Auditorium. Simon, a former police reporter and editor in Baltimore, will receive the William Julius Wilson Award for the Advancement of Social Justice.

Simon’s work, both in broadcast and in print, has been hailed for its insightful depiction of lives and issues in urban America. His address is entitled “The End of the American Century & What’s In It for You?” The event is free and open to the public.
