Park heads Korean animal, plant inspection agency

PULLMAN, Wash. – Yong Ho Park, adjunct faculty in the Washington State University Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology, recently was appointed commissioner of the animal, plant and fish quarantine and inspection agency of South Korea.
 
The sub cabinet/sub ministerial level position is approximately equivalent to that of the head of the U.S. Animal and Plant Inspection Service (APHIS), which is under the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

  • Ho earned his Ph.D. degree in the WSU Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology in 1991, is past dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine of Seoul National University, and was recognized with the WSU College of Veterinary Medicine Distinguished Graduate Alumnus Award in 2008.

     
    His daughter Min is a fourth year veterinary student at WSU.
