Northwest Public Radio welcomes StoryCorps to Tri Cities and Tacoma

The oral history project’s first of two stops in Washington is Thursday, Aug. 4, in the Tri-Cities. The signature MobileBooth – an Airstream trailer outfitted with a recording studio – will be parked in front of the Mid-Columbia Libraries’ Pasco Branch (1320 Hopkins) through September 4th.

On Thursday morning, news media and the public will have the opportunity to look inside the mobile recording booth, speak to the StoryCorps staff, and hear from participants in the first two interviews. That evening there is an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Pasco branch of the Mid-Columbia Libraries, in addition to tours of the recording booth and a live performance by Dan Maher, host of Inland Folk.

NWPR will host StoryCorps in Tacoma in beginning Sept. 8 through Oct. 3. at the Museum of Glass in downtown Tacoma.

Selections from some of the local interviews will be aired on Northwest Public Radio’s Morning Edition on Wednesdays at 6:35am and 8:35am.

More information and reservations for recording sessions for the Tri-Cities or the Tacoma visits are available at http://www.nwpr.org or at http://www.storycorps.org or by calling 1-800-850-4406.
