Today Show to broadcast live segment from veterinary college

NBC’s Today Show will broadcast a live segment from Washington State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine tomorrow.

The piece will feature the tortoise “Gamera” and his prosthetic wheel that was installed on his shell following an amputation of his left foreleg.

The piece will air live Saturday, June 30, from the Veterinary Teaching Hospital in order to hit the east coast at an 8:20 a.m. time slot.  The west coast will get the same broadcast by delay at 8:20 a.m. local time.

For Gamera and his WSU veterinarians Nickol Finch and Courtney Watkins (now with the VCA Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle), their call to set is 4:20 a.m. and they will go live at 5:20 a.m. local time.

A small crew will be in Pullman this evening shooting additional footage and begin setting up tomorrow for the live broadcast at 3 a.m.
