Cougs compete at nat’l track, field championships

PULLMAN — Washington State University has several undergraduate and alumni competing at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Thursday-Sunday, June 23-26, at Hayward Field in Eugene, and at the Canadian Track & Field Championships, June 22-25, in Calgary.
 
The top three finishers in each event will advance to the USA Team/Canadian Team for the 2011 IAAF World Championships in Athletics, Aug. 27-Sept. 4, at Daegu, Korea.

WSU hosting championships delayed
With the Pac-12 moving the 2012 conference track and field championships from USC hosting in Los Angeles to Oregon hosting in Eugene, WSU’s hosting duties originally penned-in for May 2013 may be delayed until 2014 or later…the Pac-12 track and field head coaches will meet in September 2011 to make the determination as to the locations for the next several years…WSU last hosted the Pacific-10 Conference Track & Field Championships in 2002…Cougars were also set to host the Pac-12 Cross Country Championships in October of 2013 and are awaiting word on that meet.
