Seminar: Understanding and design of air environment ventilation from the human scale to regional scale

Speaker: Prof. Yuguo Li

Department of Mechanical Engineering

The University of Hong Kong

Seminar on Friday June 24
11:00 – 12:00 ETRL 101

Abstract: Ventilation refers to the process of supplying external air into a space, which can be as small as an animal burrow, and as large as a city. The concept of ventilation includes external airflow rate, overall airflow direction and air distribution within the space. The speaker will discuss the importance and concept of ventilation for our buildings and high-rise compact cities. Examples will include control of exhaled substances (droplets) for infection control in a room, and some preliminary understanding of wind flows and buoyancy-driven flows in Hong Kong.
