$3.75M NSF grant encouraging women in STEM disciplines

(Today’s Perspectives column is written by Warwick M. Bayly, provost and executive vice president.)

In 2008, our university received a $3.75 million, five-year grant from the National Science Foundation to increase the representation and advancement of women faculty members in the STEM disciplines – science, technology, engineering and mathematics …

Our NSF ADVANCE Institutional Transformation grant is an intrinsic part of our strategy to address that issue.

ADVANCE at WSU, which is being led by Nancy Magnuson, Candis Claiborn, Fran McSweeney and Robert Bates, is dedicated to the effort to build a diverse and outstanding faculty, with particular emphasis on women in STEM disciplines.
