Conflict in Libya hits home

PULLMAN, Wash. – The WSU and Pullman interfaith community is holding a community-wide food drive to help Libyan students whose education funding is frozen due to the ongoing political conflict in Libya.

Food is being collected at several locations in Pullman, including:
  • Interfaith House, 720 N.E. Thatuna St.
  • St. James, 1410 N.E. Stadium Way
  • Community Congregational United Church of Christ, 525 N.E. Campus Ave.

Particular items are requested for this drive including: lentils, rice, pasta, tomato products, canned fruits and vegetables, peanut butter, jelly, and dried milk. Other items being collected are: beans, chickpeas, oil, salt, sugar, flour, coffee and tea.

The ongoing hostilities in Libya have forced the U.N. to freeze all Libyan assets, which includes the funding that supports Libyan students and their families in the U.S. and Canada.
