PULLMAN, Wash. – As the Washington State University Cougars took on the Oregon Ducks on the baseball diamond Sunday, the spectators looked a bit different than usual. Dozens of dogs and their owners were on hand for the inaugural Bowwow at Bailey-Brayton field.

Ticket proceeds of $210 will go to the Whitman County Humane Society’s Spay/Neuter Program.

People often drove or walked by the ballpark with their dogs during games, so WSU Athletics decided to set aside the last game of the season for dogs and owners to enjoy together, said
Jessica Young, director of tickets.

Keith Schlecht, who brought his dog to the game, said all the dogs were well behaved.

“We are definitely hoping we can make this an annual event and grow it every year,” Young said.
