Faculty advised of changes to Angel learning system

On Aug. 3, the Angel learning management system will be upgraded from version 7.3 to 7.4. Most faculty and instructors will not notice any difference. However, there are some changes, including:

•Map menu icons will change slightly in appearance
•Assignment drop boxes menus will be available through a separate “submissions” option instead of through “utilities”
•Grading rubrics can be attached to assessments and assignment drop boxes
•A new tool, called item analysis, will be added for instructors to evaluate their exam questions
•An option will be available to embed videos, images or RSS feeds within certain areas of the course space
•The process for merged courses will change. In most cases, instructors will want to work with their department administrator to set up the merged course relationship in the registration system. Officially associated sections will be populated automatically into ANGEL. In some situations, the sections cannot be officially associated in the registration system. If so, instructors should submit a request to merge courses via http://online.wsu.edu/services.

Visit http://angel.wsu.edu to view an Angel 7.4 video that summarizes the changes, some of which will be implemented differently in WSU Online courses.

WSU Online staff soon will offer “What’s changed in 7.4” training sessions to WSU Online course instructors at http://online.wsu.edu/services. These sessions will be offered in person and through Elluminate.

The new features of version 7.4 also will be incorporated in all Angel training sessions.
