Crimson runs away from gray in final scrimmage

SPOKANE, Wash. – Logwone Mitz ran for 106 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Crimson to a dominating 38-3 victory over the Gray in Washington State University’s final spring scrimmage held in front of 4,076 fans at Joe Albi Stadium in Spokane, Wash., Saturday afternoon.

The Crimson, composed mostly of the first team offense and defense, scored touchdowns on their first five offensive series beginning with Henry Eaddy’s 32-yard score on a reverse run to the left side. Rickey Galvin then added a five-yard touchdown run before Mitz broke off a 70-yard run down the left sideline for his first score of the afternoon. The next Crimson drive saw Jeff Tuel connect with Andrei Lintz in the back left corner of the end zone for a 29-yard touchdown pass. Mitz later capped the first half with a four-yard run to give the Crimson a 35-0 lead at the break. Andrew Furney provided the only scores in the second half, connecting on field goals of 53 and 20 yards.

Tuel finished the afternoon a solid 12-of-17 for 128 yards and touchdown pass. Marquess Wilson made six catches for 82 yards for the Crimson while Bennett Bontemps paced the Gray team with six catches for 30 yards. Galvin rushed five times for 47 yards and Anthony Laurenzi made a pair of sacks.

The final scrimmage of the spring capped a full day’s worth of activities for the Cougars players who visited the Children’s Ward at Sacred Heart Hospital in the morning before later signing autographs and taking part in the WSU Fan Fest held prior to the game.
