Displays, awards highlight Civic Engagement Week

PULLMAN, Wash.— A record number of Washington State University students provided public service through the Center for Civic Engagement this academic year. Some will be honored and present their projects as the CCE celebrates Civic Engagement Week April 18-22.
 
Students will display their projects for the public in the CCE Gallery of Student Service 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday, April 21, in the CUB junior ballroom. Some will make presentations noon-3 p.m.
 
The Fourth Annual Cougs Care Recognition Celebration will start at 3 p.m. It honors the more than 5,000 WSU students who accumulated more than 40,000 hours of service during 2010-11.
The annual Excellence in Civic Engagement Awards will be presented to: Ole Sleipness, faculty, horticulture and landscape architecture; Kathleen Parker, campus partner, U.S. Department of agriculture; Michael Herseth, WSU Pullman student; Erica Vieira, WSU Online student; Palouse Clearwater Environmental Institute, community partner; and Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, student group recipient.
