Proposed House budget poses concerns for WSU

The proposed House budget for 2011-13 revealed several concerns for Washington State University and higher education, notes President Elson S. Floyd in his Perspectives column.

The largest looming factor is the potential for a 52 percent drop in overall funding in four years.

“It is safe to say that the House budget adds to our concerns about the trajectory of funding for higher education in our state. Decisions that are made in the next few weeks could have a lasting and damaging effect on higher education quality and access and make it even more difficult for our state to rebuild after the economic recession.”
