Sexual Assault Awareness Week features speaker from Bosnia

PULLMAN – WSU will recognize National Sexual Assault Awareness Month April 11-15 with guest speakers and brown bag events.
 
Dean of Students Christian Wuthrich said he hopes to see students pinning white ribbons to their clothing throughout the week to show support for people impacted by sexual assaults.
 
The WSU Women’s Resource Center (WRC) and Sexual Violence and Response Task Force have organized the following events:
 
Monday, April 11 –The WRC and Alternatives to Violence of the Palouse (ATVP) will hand out flyers, answer questions and distribute white ribbons 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the CUB.
 
Tuesday April, 12 – The Sexual Violence and Response Task Force will hold a panel discussion about alcohol and its role in sexual assaults 11 a.m.-12 p.m. in the Junior Ballroom at the CUB. Panelists include representatives from WSU Counseling Services, the Pullman Police Department and ATVP.
 
Wednesday April, 13 – The WRC will sponsor 10 students to attend a self-defense intro class 4-6 p.m. at Smith Gym, Room 203. Also, Women who ride Women’s Transit 6-8 p.m. will have a chance to meet WSU celebrities Butch, President Elson S. Floyd and more.
 
Thursday April, 14 – Azra Grudic, anti-trafficking specialist from Bosnia, will talk about her experiences with human trafficking 12-1 p.m. in Wilson Hall, Room A1. Students are encouraged to bring lunch.
 
Friday April, 15 – Students can create t-shirts with testimonies of victims of sexual assault to be displayed on YWCA’s Closthesline project across the Glenn-Terrell mall.
