Flood-watch advisory issued by Nat’l Weather Service

The National Weather has issued the following flood-watch advisory for Latah and Whitman counties that extends through Tuesday afternoon.

“Several days of heavy rainfall and melting snow have left area streams running high and soils saturated. Localized flooding from swollen streams and ponding water as well as debris slides on saturated slopes have been reported throughout the region.”

There is additional concern a new weather system is on its way with the possibility of up to another inch of rain in some areas.

The Nat’l Weather Service is advising:
  • Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely. Move to higher ground.
  • To report flooding, have the nearest law enforcement agency relay your report to the National Weather Service forecast office

Additionally, areas above 3,000 feet could see snowfall from this latest storm
