Dean of WSU Libraries appoints new head of MASC

PULLMAN – Trevor Bond was named the permanent head of WSU Libraries’ Manuscripts, Archives and Special Collections (MASC) this month.

Bond joined the WSU Library faculty in 1998 as Interim Manuscripts Librarian in MASC and has served as Interim Head of MASC for three years.

Before his arrival at WSU, Bond worked in the Department of Special Collections at the Getty Research Institute as a Senior Collections Cataloging Assistant and was previously awarded the 1998 Getty Graduate Internship in the Department of Special Collections. He also worked in the Department of Special Collections at UCLA and created a revised bibliography of the Ahmenson-Murphy Collection of the Aldine Press.

Bond received his master’s degree in information science with a specialization in archives and preservation management in 1998 and a master’s in ancient history in 1996 from UCLA. He earned a bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University in 1992 in the classics – Latin and Greek – with a minor in art history.

As a number of library staff positions have been eliminated due to severe budget cuts, Jay Starratt, dean of WSU Libraries, also announced that Joel Cummings has assumed many of Diane Carroll’s duties and Beth Blakesley’s title changed to Associate Dean.
