Interim chair named for pharmacotherapy department

SPOKANE – John R. White has been named interim chair of the Department of Pharmacotherapy in the College of Pharmacy at Washington State University.
 
A professor in the department since 1989, he obtained his bachelor’s degree in zoology in 1980 from the University of Tennessee. He has a doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) degree from Mercer University in Atlanta.
 
He completed a general clinical residency followed by a pharmacodynamic/pharmacokinetic fellowship in 1989 at the University of California, San Francisco. In 1998, he became physician assistant certified through the University of Washington College of Medicine.
 
White has done extensive work in the field of diabetes and has received numerous awards, including teacher of the year three times from the college.
 
White replaces Linda Garrelts MacLean, who recently was named associate dean for professional education and outreach in the college. A national search will be conducted for a new chair.
 
The department is based on the Spokane campus but also has faculty located in Pullman.
