PULLMAN – That fast ball in the catcher’s mitt may pack an extra sting this weekend, as Cougar baseball is scheduled to host UC Santa Barbara while high temperatures are forecast from 13 degrees Friday to 35 degrees Sunday.

A winter weather advisory is in effect on the Palouse through 4 a.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) office in Spokane. An additional 1-3 inches of snow is expected. Drivers are cautioned to expect snow covered roads, limited visibilities and travel difficulties.

An update for the Palouse from the Spokane NWS was expected this afternoon. If there are weather warnings, they will be posted at the WSU Alert website, http://alert.wsu.edu, later today.

The extended forecast calls for snow and colder weather though the week, with clearing and very cold temperatures Friday and Saturday before it warms up enough to snow again Sunday. Next week’s forecast shows more snow and rain, with temperatures ranging from highs in the low 40s to lows in the high 20s.

The status of the WSU home baseball games is “weather permitting.” Check the WSU Athletics home page, http://www.wsucougars.com/, later this week for an update. The games are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and noon Sunday at Bailey-Brayton field.
