Workshop to discuss funding options for enhancing property

WSU Extension and the Snoqualmie Watershed Forum will present a workshop on government grant and cost-share programs that help forest and farm owners improve their property. This free workshop will take place 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 10, at the Snoqualmie Library.

Many area landowners have dream projects to enhance their property, improve wildlife habitat and improve property management practices, but do not have the funds to get started. This workshop will provide information on federal, state and local cost-share programs available to partially fund or, in some cases, fully fund these projects. Examples of eligible projects might include: fish barrier removal, tree planting, invasive species removal and riparian fencing.

The program will feature speakers from the Snoqualmie Watershed Forum, King Conservation District, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resource Conservation Service, the Washington Department of Natural Resources, and King County. Speakers will discuss how to qualify for their specific grants and where to get assistance with applications.

Class size is limited for this event, so participants are encouraged sign up early to ensure a space. For additional information, registration and a complete agenda, visit http://snohomish.wsu.edu/forestry/costshare2010.htm or contact Tamara Neuffer at 425-357-6017 or tneuffer@wsu.edu.
