SPOKANE – Students from WSU’s Nutrition and Exercise Physiology (NEP) program in partnership with the Riverpoint Campus Wellness Collaborative hosted the 2010 Health Fair on Oct. 21 in the atrium of the WSU Spokane Academic Center.
This fun annual event was free and open to the public. It is designed to educate and involve the campus and surrounding community in exploring healthy lifestyle choices and features local vendors who represent recreational activities, healthy living, nutrition, health care organizations, fitness and more.
During the fair participants had the opportunity to explore a variety of health screening activities focusing on blood pressure, body mass index, waist circumference, body composition/body fat analysis, and the Rockport One Mile Fitness Test.
Students from the College of Pharmacy offered seasonal flu vaccines for $25 for healthy people ages 18 and older who are not pregnant. Participants also had the opportunity to donate blood through the Inland Northwest Blood Center
Nutrition and Exercise Physiology program
The Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology degree focuses on the effects of nutrition and exercise on human health. This unique curriculum integrates the areas of exercise physiology, human nutrition, biological sciences, and social and psychological sciences. This program is the only bachelor’s degree in the U.S. to be both endorsed by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and accredited by the American Dietetic Association (ADA).
