Faculty vocalist, pianist star in Evening of Opera

PULLMAN – Evening of Opera will feature a soprano and a pianist for the second performance of the Faculty Artists Series, which will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, in Bryan Hall Theatre.
 
The concert will feature soprano Julie Anne Wieck, associate professor, and pianist Gerald Berthiaume, professor and director of the School of Music, performing some of the most well-known music from the operatic repertoire, including arias from “La Boheme,” “Carmen,” “The Barber of Seville” and “Die Fledermaus.”
 

The characters portrayed range from the serious to the humorous, the distressed to the jubilant, and the pious to the profane.

 
General admission tickets are $10, seniors and non-WSU Students are $5 and WSU students are free with identification. Season passes are available for all eight performances for $50. Tickets are available in the lobby one hour before concert time.
 
Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the School of Music scholarship fund.
 
Additional performances this season include “Nighthawk” at 8 p.m. Oct. 22 and “Schumann: Bobby’s Birthday” at 8 p.m. on Nov. 12.
