Registration open for scholarship golf tourney

PULLMAN – After a successful debut a year ago, WSU Facilities Operations has set its second golf tournament to support the FacOps Scholarship Fund to take place Saturday, Aug. 14.
Registration has started for the open-to-the-public Jess Ford of Pullman Hardhat Classic Golf Tournament reflecting the fact that the Pullman dealership is tournament title sponsor of the 18-hole event. It will be held at WSU’s Palouse Ridge Golf Club, with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
Tournament Director Ev Davis said players of all skill levels are encouraged to participate. The tournament format will be a split between a scramble and a best ball with each participant or team selecting their preference. Davis said participants can choose to sign up by themselves or as part of a group of four.
Per player entry fee is $135, $58 of which is tax deductible and will go to help fund scholarships.
Each player will enjoy golf cart rental, small bucket of practice balls bag tag with Palouse Ridge/Cougar head logo, yardage book, sleeve of Nike golf balls, golf towel and tournament hat, and lunch served at Banyan’s on the Ridge located in the Palouse Ridge club house.
Last year’s tournament had 58 golfers and raised approximately $5,000.
“We hope to exceed those amounts,” said Steve Westbrook, FacOps Scholarship Committee chair.
Those eligible for scholarships include freshmen, sophomore, junior and senior students at all WSU campuses. For more scholarship information visit http://www.hardhatclassic.com/.
Registration can be made online at www.hardhatclassic.com, by printing out a form from the same website and mailing it in or by calling the WSU Alumni Association, 1-800-ALUM-WSU. Registration deadline is Aug. 1.
A new Ford 2010 F150 XLT Super Cab 4wd pickup truck, sponsored by Jess Ford of Pullman, is the prize to the winner of the hole-in-one on the sixth green. To learn about other tournament sponsorship opportunities contact Lorrie Arrasmith, lorriea@wsu.edu, or 335-9024.
