Chancellor’s Art Exhibit to open at WSU Tri-Cities

RICHLAND – More than 40 works of art by 25 regional artists will be on display starting Feb. 10, continuing through May 7 in the Chancellor’s Art Exhibition Series at WSU Tri-Cities.

The opening reception is at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, in the East Building Room 228 (conference room).

This is a semi-annual juried exhibition series designed to showcase the remarkable art of the Columbia Valley.

“The selected works represent extreme artistic diversity in terms of media, style and content: ceramics, glass, metal, photography, painting, collage, sculpture, representative, non-representative, abstract expressionist, minimalist and impressionist to name a few,” said Douglas Gast, WSU Tri-Cities assistant professor of fine art and exhibition coordinator. “The artists included in the exhibition are also diverse — they are professionally trained and self-taught, and are at all stages of their careers.”

The 44 pieces will be on display through spring semester in the East Building administration corridor. The building is open to the public from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Admission to the reception and the ongoing art exhibition is free and open to the public.
