PULLMAN – The second Career Expo of the 2009-2010 academic year will be 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, in Beasley coliseum, according WSU’s Center for Advising and Career Development (CACD), host of the event.

Faculty, staff and community members are welcome. There is no cost to attend or participate.
“The number of recruiters interested in representing companies and graduate schools to WSU keeps rising, and we anticipate welcoming about 90 for the expo,” said Christie Motley, CACD employer relations manager and lead coordinator of the expo.

The message from recruiters is that there are jobs available, Motley said, adding that recruiters want to meet as many WSU students from as many majors as possible who might fill those positions. That is the same message given by recruiters at the fall expo, where more than 245 students got follow-up interviews.

More than 1,000 people registered at the fall expo. New for spring will be an automated card-swipe registration process, facilitated by computers donated by Wolseley/Ferguson, a company that recruits at WSU.

On the day before the expo – Monday, Feb. 8 – some recruiters have volunteered to conduct mock interviews 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. in Lighty 160.
“Since they began in 1999, these mock interviews have helped students practice with professionals and learn how to best present themselves as potential candidates,” Motley said.
CACD will host an open house 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8, at its office in Lighty 180. Students can ask questions about the expo and interviewing, and have their resumes critiqued in advance of the expo. Recruiters and CACD staff will be on hand.

Students should register in advance with the online network that connects students with employers and universities, Motley said. For more information, visit http://cacd.wsu.edu or contact Motley at cmotley@wsu.edu.
