WSU hosts Choral Festival

PULLMAN – The WSU Educational Choral Festival will be held all day Saturday, Oct. 24 in the Kimbrough Music Building on the WSU campus.
Eleven high school choirs are participating in the festival, sponsored by the WSU School of Music Choral Area. The participating high schools include Marysville-Pilchuck, Auburn, Kamiaken, Shadle Park, Medical Lake and Post Falls.
The students will spend all day performing for a panel of invited clinicians and working with clinicians in private workshops. Throughout the day there will also be performances by the WSU Opera Workshop, University Singers and VoJazz.
The day will end with the WSU Choral Festival Final Concert at 5 p.m. in the Bryan Hall Theatre. The concert will include select performances from the high school choirs as well as performances by the WSU Concert Choir and Madrigal/Chamber Singers.
Clinicians for the festival are Scott Preston from Yakima Valley Community College, David Erb from The New Saint Andrews College and Chris Thompson from the University of Idaho, as well as WSU faculty members Lori Wiest, Julie Wieck, Sheila Converse, Kathleen Hollingsworth and Mark Reagan.
Performances throughout the day and the final concert are open to the public and free of admission.
