Architectural illustrator to offer drawing workshop

PULLMAN – Pencil, marker, pastel and watercolor techniques for graphic artists will be taught by renowned illustrator Brian Lin at a workshop Nov. 6 and Nov. 7, sponsored by the WSU Landscape Architecture Club. The workshop is in the Ensminger Pavilion on the WSU campus. Sessions start at 9 a.m. both days and continue until 6 p.m.
The cost for the workshop is $60 ($75 for registering the day of the event) for students. The public is welcome to the workshop. The cost for members of the public or professionals is $100 ($110 for registering the day of the event).
 
The two-day intensive course covers not only media techniques but many aspects of creating presentation graphics that communicate well. Lin teaches rendering in two-dimensional plan view and three-dimensional perspective.
 
Attendees should bring their own drawing materials and there may be additional materials available for purchase upon arrival.
 
Landscape Architecture Club President Greg Carlson said the club is sponsoring the workshop as a service to the university and surrounding communities. Carlson said the workshop is designed for students and practitioners in architecture, landscape architecture and interior design, but that anyone with an interest in presentation graphics and plan drawing is welcome to attend.
 
Lin is the son of Mike Lin, the director of the Mike Lin Graphic and Design Workshop in Burlingame, Calif. More than 250,000 people have attended their workshops over the past 30 years and they have offered the workshop at more than 100 universities.
