From “I Got Rhythm” to a “Porgy and Bess” medley, you won’t want to miss this high-spirited rendition of a “Gershwin Revue” presented by the WSU School of Music’s Opera Workshop.Directed by Julie Wieck, associate professor of music, the summer musical will be performed July 24, 25, 31 and Aug. 1 at 8 p.m. in Bryan Hall Theatre.
“Gershwin Revue,” is a song and dance show featuring the music of George Gershwin.
Sets for the two-act performance were designed by stage manager, James Harris. The cast includes 10 WSU students: Jordyn Palmer, Melissa Palmquist, Nicole Lesley, Sirena Van Leuven, Nina Dalgaard, Dillon Robertson, Aaron Zassenhaus, Glen Milligan, Dennis Paul, and Sam Helmer.
Dancers from the local dance studio, Northwest Dance Center – under the direction of Allison Beaux – will also be featured. Pianist Jonathan Bowman, a graduate student from Eastman School of Music, will be highlighted.
The show is made possible by generous funding from WSU Summer Programs and VPLAC.
Ticket prices are $10 for general admission and $5 for students and senior citizens. Children under age 6 are admitted free. Tickets will be available at the door beginning at 6:30 p.m.
