RICHLAND — Jaime Contreras, director of Student Affairs at WSU Tri-Cities, was appointed to leadership positions with two national organizations.
Contreras recently was selected to continue as chair of the Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards’ National Selection Committee. He has served in the role since 2006. The Hispanic Heritage Foundation is a national Latino scholarship granting organization.
Also, Contreras was just appointed to the National Association for College Admissions Counseling (NACAC) Current Trends & Future Issues Committee. NACAC is the national organization that represents college recruitment officers and college counselors.
He is the first WSU employee in recent memory to serve in leadership roles with either organization. Contreras joined WSU Tri-Cities in June 2008. He oversees the admissions, recruitment, registrar, financial aid, career services, student associations, career services, and disability, veterans and counseling services.
Contreras earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Loyola University Chicago and his master’s degree in Educational Administration from Northeastern Illinois University.
