Solstice Wind Quintet in concert for the Faculty Artist Series

PULLMAN — The Solstice Wind Quintet will present a concert as part of the Faculty Artist Series at WSU at 8 p.m. Friday, April 10, in Bryan Hall Theatre.

The Solstice Quintet is a distinguished faculty ensemble which has been in residence at WSU since 1978. The chamber group has presented hundreds of concerts throughout the Pacific Northwest including performances on numerous prestigious chamber music series.

The Solstice Quintet members are, Ann Marie Yasinitsky, flute; Shannon Scott, clarinet; Keri McCarthy, oboe; Jennifer Scriggins Brummett, horn; and Ryan Hare, bassoon–all WSU School of Music faculty members. Special guest for the concert is Robert Dickow, professor of Horn, Composition and Theory at the University of Idaho.

The program will feature a work composed by Cynthia Folio which is based on literary quotes from Mark Twain, Sir Francis Bacon, Aristotle, Bertold Brecht and Baltazar Gracian. The monumental masterpiece for Wind Quintet by Carl Nielsen and the late Romantic Sextet by Carl Reinecke will also be performed.

Tickets are $10 for general admission, $5 for seniors and $5 for non- WSU students. WSU students are free with ID. All proceeds support scholarships in the WSU School of Music.
