Two forums on university budget set for Jan. 20

PULLMAN — WSU faculty, staff and students will have a chance to learn about the progress of the University Budget Committee and to share their ideas and ask questions during two public forums, noon-1 p.m., and 5:15-6:15 p.m.,Tuesday, Jan. 20, in the CUB Auditorium.

Anyone wishing to submit a question in advance may do so at http://www.budget-committee.wsu.edu.

President Elson S. Floyd and Provost Warwick M. Bayly, co-chairs of the University Budget Committee, will lead the forum discussion.

The budget committee is examining all of the university’s operations and helping identify potential actions to take in response to reductions in state funding for the university.

To date, the committee has received more than 400 suggestions on how to cut costs, operate more efficiently, increase revenue, and more effectively fulfill the university’s mission.

The forums will be available live via videostream at http://www.experience.wsu.edu  and on Cable Channel 8 in the Pullman area.

To avoid over utilizing campus networks, WSU employees are encouraged to view the presentation at a group viewing location, rather than via a personal web stream delivered to individual computer workstations.

Current group viewing location options:

* WSU Spokane:  Spokane Academic Center, Room 20, noon-1:00 p.m., and Room 501, 5:15-6:15 p.m.

* WSU Tri-Cities:  Group viewing not available.

* WSU Vancouver:  Vancouver Classroom Building, Room 131, both forums.
